Siam Park Waterpark Tenerife and the Best Things to Do

Island · Canary Islands · Spain

For many British families, Siam Park waterpark Tenerife is the reason the island makes the shortlist, and it is easy to reach: the park sits by Playa de las Américas, about 14 minutes by road from Tenerife South, the airport with direct flights from the United Kingdom. Yet the island offers far more than slides. On the north coast, Puerto de la Cruz has Loro Parque, Lago Martiánez and a botanical garden. The east side has the Pyramids of Güímar and the Basilica of Candelaria, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife pairs old castles with a city beach. This page sets out what is where, which places suit children, and how to book tours and tickets.

Resorts and towns in Tenerife

Ranked by what there is to see and book. Each has its own page.

The sights worth planning around

Ask what to see and three names keep coming up. Siam Park is the water park near Playa de las Américas, and for many visitors it is the main reason to look up things to do in Tenerife. Loro Parque, the zoo at Puerto de la Cruz, is the north coast's big family day. The Pyramids of Güímar, a 19th-century site on the east coast, draw those curious about the island's past.

Next come the quieter sights: the Basilica of Candelaria, a Marian sanctuary beside the sea, and the castles of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, including San Andrés Castle, the Castillo de San Juan Bautista and the Castillo de San Cristóbal. For landscape, the protected areas of Barranco del Infierno above Adeje and Roques de Anaga in the north-east offer a change from beaches and pools.

What to see, area by area

In the south, Playa de las Américas is home to Siam Park, and Adeje, next door, gives access to Barranco del Infierno. Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Los Gigantes, the resorts most British travellers book, are all within easy reach. Most people looking for water parks in Tenerife will find Siam Park on their doorstep here, and Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide lie a little further west.

Puerto de la Cruz, on the north coast, packs a lot into a small town: Loro Parque, the seawater pools of Lago Martiánez, the Castillo de San Felipe, the Archaeological Museum, the lighthouse and the Jardín de Aclimatación de la Orotava. La Orotava and Los Realejos sit just inland.

On the east side, Güimar has its pyramids and Candelaria its basilica. Further north, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre, three castles, Playa de Las Teresitas at San Andrés, and the Roques de Anaga beyond.

Days out with children

Families tend to build a week around two anchors: Siam Park in the south and Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz. Both make a full day, and staying in Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas or Los Cristianos keeps the water park close, while Loro Parque is a longer outing to the north coast.

Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz works well with Loro Parque on the same trip north, and Playa de Las Teresitas near Santa Cruz is a beach day that pairs with the city's castles. Older children may enjoy the Pyramids of Güímar or the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre, which give rainy or cooler days a purpose.

Booking tours and tickets

You can compare tours and tickets for the island's attractions here, including Siam Park tickets, and book them before you fly. Doing so is sensible in July and August, the warmest months, with highs around 26 to 28°C in Adeje, and during UK school holidays, when the most popular parks are busiest.

Most British visitors arrive at Tenerife South, the airport with direct UK flights, which is around 14 minutes from Playa de las Américas and 15 from Adeje. Tenerife North serves Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz but has no direct flights from the UK. If you plan to cover the north coast and the east side, compare car hire on this page; package holidays with Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach can also be compared here.
