Cheap Ibiza Holidays: Quieter Months, Resorts and Savings

Island · Balearic Islands · Spain

Cheap Ibiza holidays come down to three choices: when you travel, where you stay and how you put the trip together. The island is compact. Ibiza airport takes direct flights from the UK and sits within about a quarter of an hour of Sant Antoni de Portmany, Santa Eulària des Riu and the beaches around Es Cubells, so transfers eat little of your holiday. Outside the high summer, the climate at Sant Antoni stays mild, with spring and autumn days in the low to mid twenties. Below, I set out the quieter months, the resorts that tend to cost less and the habits that help, and you can compare live package, hotel and car hire options on this page as you go.

Which months cost less

The busiest stretch is high summer, when Sant Antoni averages 32°C in July and 31°C in August and demand from the UK is at its peak. Prices across the island follow that curve, and school holidays push them up further, so if you are free to travel in term time you start with an advantage.

The shoulder months are where the value tends to sit. May brings highs around 23°C, although it can be showery, with about nine rain days on average. September is still warm at around 27°C, again with roughly nine wetter days. Further out, March reaches about 18°C and November around 20°C, which suits walking, the coves and a slower pace rather than lying on the sand all day.

If you want sunshine without the summer rush, April and October make a good compromise: around 21°C and 25°C respectively, with fewer crowds than the peak months.

Resorts that tend to cost less

As a rule, the larger resorts with plenty of hotel stock and short transfers give you the widest choice of holiday deals in Ibiza, and more choice usually means more room to find a fair price. San Antonio, or Sant Antoni de Portmany, is the obvious starting point: a town of around 22,000 people, about 12 minutes from the airport, with Cala Salada, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte within reach.

Santa Eulalia, Santa Eulària des Riu in Catalan, is the island's largest municipality at around 31,000 residents and roughly 16 minutes from the airport. It has a calmer feel, with Cala Llonga, Cala Pada, Cala Martina and the S'Argamassa Roman Fish Farm close by. Ibiza Town is also popular, while the southwest around Es Cubells, home to Cala Vadella, Sa Caleta and Cala d'Hort, is very close to the airport but is a much smaller place with less accommodation to choose from.

Simple ways to spend less

Package deals bundle your flight, hotel and transfer into one booking, and they are how most British travellers book the island. You can compare Ibiza package deals from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach on this page, alongside hotel prices if you prefer to book separately. Flexibility helps most: midweek departures and flights from a regional UK airport rather than a London one are often worth checking, and booking well ahead of the school holidays gives you more to choose from.

Board basis matters too. Self-catering or bed and breakfast keeps the headline cost down if you are happy to eat out locally, while all inclusive can suit families who prefer to know the total in advance. For cheap breaks to Ibiza, the short transfers make a long weekend realistic, so cheap Ibiza weekend breaks in spring or autumn are worth a look if a full fortnight is out of reach. Car hire can be compared here too, which opens up the quieter coves around Sant Carles de Peralta such as Cala de Sant Vicent and Platja Pou d'es Lleó.

Getting there from the UK

Ibiza airport (IBZ) has direct flights from the UK, and it is close to almost everywhere. Es Cubells and Sant Josep de sa Talaia are about 8 minutes away by road, Sant Antoni de Portmany about 12 minutes and Santa Eulària des Riu about 16 minutes, so even a cheap weekend in Ibiza does not lose much time to transfers.

If you are combining islands or arriving from the mainland, ferries link the port of Ibiza with Dénia, about 62 miles away, and with Palma on Mallorca, about 68 miles away.
