Cadiz Spain Weather: Month-by-Month Climate Guide
City · Spain
Cadiz Spain weather follows a clear Atlantic-Andalusian rhythm, and it is kinder than many British travellers expect. Summer is hot but rarely scorching, with August averaging highs of 31°C and nights around 22°C. July and August each see roughly one rainy day. Winter stays mild: December and January peak at 17°C and fall to 9°C after dark. The catch comes in autumn. October is by far the wettest month, with 185 mm of rain over about 14 days, and March is the other damp spell. April through September, plus a surprisingly settled November, are the months to aim for. The live forecast above shows the days ahead; this page covers the pattern across the year.

What the year looks like
The city sits almost surrounded by water at the tip of its bay, and the climate table reflects that: warm, dry summers, mild winters and two distinct wet spells. The warmest month is August, with average highs of 31°C and lows of 22°C, closely followed by July at 29°C. The coolest months are December and January, both with highs of 17°C and lows of 9°C, which is a fair bit warmer than a British spring day.
Rain is concentrated rather than spread out. October is the wettest month by a wide margin, with around 185 mm over 14 days, and March brings 112 mm over about 10 days. In contrast, July and August each record around 1 mm, and April is unusually dry at just 6 mm across three days. The best months to visit are April to September, with November also counting as a good bet; January, February, March, October and December are the shoulder months.
The climate data used here does not include sea temperatures, so for swimming conditions it is worth checking the live forecast and local reports closer to your trip. What the air temperatures do tell you is that the long, dry run from late spring to the end of summer is when beach days on Playa de la Caleta and Playa de la Victoria are most reliable.
Month by month through the year
January and February are mild and fairly quiet, with highs of 17°C and 18°C, lows around 9°C to 10°C, and five or six wet days each. March turns wetter, with about 10 rainy days, though temperatures climb to 20°C. Then April flips the script: highs of 23°C, lows of 14°C and only three wet days make it one of the most pleasant months for walking between Cádiz Cathedral, the Roman Theatre and the Arco del Pópulo. May is similar at 24°C with four wet days.
June warms to 27°C, with around six showery days, before July and August settle into the dry heart of summer at 29°C and 31°C, each with barely a single day of rain. This is peak beach season, and the busiest time for package holidays, with school-holiday dates usually commanding higher prices. September stays warm at 27°C but rain returns on about six days.
October is the month to approach with care: still 24°C by day, yet with around 14 wet days it is the soggiest of the year. November recovers well, with highs of 21°C and about six wet days, which is why it appears among the best months. December rounds the year off at 17°C with five wet days, a gentle option for a city break built around the museums and churches rather than the sand.
What to pack each season
From June to September, pack for heat: light, breathable clothing, a sunhat, sunglasses and high-factor sun cream, since highs run from 27°C to 31°C and nights stay around 19°C to 22°C. Comfortable sandals or walking shoes help on the old town's streets and the walk out to Castillo de Santa Catalina.
In April, May and November, days are warm at 21°C to 24°C but evenings drop to between 13°C and 16°C, so bring a light jacket or jumper alongside summer clothes. For March and October, a compact umbrella or waterproof layer is sensible given the number of rainy days.
From December to February, think of a mild British spring: layers, a warmer coat for evenings around 9°C to 10°C, and something waterproof for the five or six wet days a month.
What to pack for Cádiz in October
- T-shirts by day and a light layer for the evening: October averages 24°C by day and 17°C at night.
- A light rain jacket: about 14 rainy days in October.
