Resort · Balearic Islands · Mallorca · Spain

Resorts and towns near Palma Nova

Ranked by what there is to see and book. Each has its own page.

The sights worth your time

For most visitors the beaches come first. Palmanova beach is a group of beaches in the municipality of Calvià, and the strip of sand at platja del Carregador sits right in the resort. A little further, Cala Comtessa is about 2.5 miles away and Caleta de Bendinat around 3 miles, giving you quieter coves to aim for once you have done the town beaches.

Beyond the sand, the main attractions in Palma Nova are Marineland Mallorca, a theme park about a mile from the centre, and Western Water Park in Magaluf, whose themed areas go by the names Western Land, Indian Town and El Paso. For something older, the Castle of Bendinat stands roughly 2.5 miles away, and Naveta Alemany, a listed cultural property in Calvià, is an archaeological site around 2 miles off.

Palmanova and Magaluf compared

Palmanova itself holds most of the places to visit in Palma Nova, Majorca: nine of the listed sights fall within its area. That includes the beaches of Carregador, Na Nadala and Son Caliu within half a mile, Platja de l'Hostalet at about a mile, Marineland Mallorca, the Castle of Bendinat, and the coves of Cala Comtessa and Caleta de Bendinat a short drive along the coast.

Magaluf, around a mile away, is where many of the other things to do near Palma Nova are found. Western Water Park, the Cala Vinyes beach and the Naveta Alemany archaeological site are all here, roughly 2 miles from Palmanova. The two resorts run into each other, so it is easy to split a stay between them.

For a longer outing, Palma's ferry port is about 6 miles away, which puts the island's capital within easy reach for a day out.

Days out for families

Things to do in Palma Nova for families centre on the two parks and the town beaches. Marineland Mallorca is about a mile from the resort and Western Water Park around 2 miles away in Magaluf, so either makes a simple half or full day without a long car journey. The beaches at Carregador, Na Nadala and Son Caliu are close enough to walk to with small children.

If you are travelling as a couple, the quieter coves of Cala Comtessa and Caleta de Bendinat, along with the Castle of Bendinat, suit slower days, and there are plenty of things to do in Palma Nova for couples once the family crowds head to the water parks. Keep in mind that July and August average 32°C, so parks are best tackled early in the day.
