Last Minute Holidays to Palma Nova: How Late Deals Work

Resort · Balearic Islands · Mallorca · Spain

Last minute holidays to Palma Nova make sense because the resort sits just 15 minutes by road from Palma de Mallorca airport, which has direct flights from the United Kingdom. A short transfer means a late booking costs you very little of your holiday in travel. Palmanova runs along a string of small beaches on Mallorca's south-west coast, with Magaluf about a mile away and Marineland Mallorca on the doorstep. Below, I explain how late package stock appears, which months tend to have the most of it, and how to compare live offers from the main package providers on this page before you commit.

How late deals actually work

Late deals are mostly unsold package stock: seats on flights to Palma de Mallorca and hotel rooms that the operators would rather fill than leave empty. As departure gets closer, usually within a few weeks, those packages of flight, hotel and transfer can be re-released as last minute deals to Palma Nova. You still get the normal package structure, with your flights, accommodation and airport transfer bundled together, and you choose the board basis, from room only through to half board or all inclusive, depending on what is left.

The trick is flexibility. If you can leave from more than one UK airport, travel on a different day, or take Magaluf instead of Palmanova (the two sit about a mile apart and share the same airport transfer of roughly 15 minutes), you widen the pool of packages considerably. Being rigid about one hotel or one date is what usually closes the door on a late booking.

When late availability is greatest

May and June are the best months on the coast here, with highs of 24°C and 29°C and relatively few rain days, so demand is strong and late stock tends to be thinner. July and August are hotter still, around 32°C, and fall in the UK school holidays, when families book well ahead and prices rise across the board.

The better hunting ground for late deals to Palma Nova is the shoulder season: April, with highs around 20°C, and September and October, which still reach 28°C and 24°C, though September is also the wettest month with about 10 rain days. From November to March the days are mild, between 15°C and 19°C, which suits a walking or sightseeing break rather than a beach fortnight. Avoiding half-term weeks helps at any time of year.

Where to compare late packages

This page shows live package offers from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach, so you can compare last minute Palma Nova holidays side by side rather than opening four sites. Check the departure airport, the board basis and whether transfers are included, as these vary between offers.

If you would rather put the trip together yourself, you can also check hotel prices, compare car hire and browse tours and tickets for places such as Marineland Mallorca and Western Water Park here. For a short stay, a package usually keeps things simpler, but it is worth comparing both routes.

Getting there from the UK

Palma de Mallorca airport (PMI) is the gateway, with direct flights from the United Kingdom. The drive to Palmanova takes around 15 minutes, and to Magaluf about 16 minutes, so even a late evening arrival gets you to your hotel quickly. Package deals normally include this transfer; if you book separately, car hire is easy to arrange at the airport.

Palma's ferry port is about 5.5 miles away, useful if you fancy a day trip to Ibiza or are arriving by sea, and Alcúdia's port lies around 39 miles to the north-east.

What is the best beach in Palma Nova?

It depends on what you want. Palmanova beach, a group of beaches, is right in the resort, with Na Nadala, Son Caliu Beach and platja del Carregador all within about a mile. Cala Vinyes, Cala Comtessa and Caleta de Bendinat are a short trip further.

Marineland Mallorca is about a mile away and Western Water Park, with its Western Land, Indian Town and El Paso areas, is around 2 miles away near Magaluf. History lovers can see the Castle of Bendinat and the Naveta Alemany archaeological site nearby.

Can I stay in Magaluf instead of Palmanova on a late deal?
