Canary Island Holidays: Packages to the Canary Islands
Region · Spain
Canary island holidays work because the weather barely takes a day off. At Adeje, on Tenerife's south coast, daytime highs run from 20°C in February to 28°C in August, and July typically sees no rain at all. Four islands have airports with direct flights from the UK, and most resorts sit a short transfer from the terminal: Puerto del Carmen is about six minutes from Lanzarote airport, and Playa de las Américas around a quarter of an hour from Tenerife South. Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura each have a different character, so the first decision is which island, then which resort, before you compare packages side by side.

Who these islands suit
Holidays in the Canaries suit almost anyone who wants reliable warmth without a long-haul flight. Families tend to gravitate to Tenerife, where Siam Park sits by Playa de las Américas and Loro Parque is at Puerto de la Cruz, or to Maspalomas on Gran Canaria, close to Palmitos Park and the Maspalomas Lighthouse.
Couples and walkers often look further afield: the Barranco del Infierno protected area above Adeje, the small cliff-side resort of Los Gigantes, or the remote beach at Cofete reached from Costa Calma on Fuerteventura. For real quiet, La Palma and La Gomera draw only a fraction of the visitors the four main islands do.
Which resort suits you
On Tenerife, Playa de las Américas and Adeje are the south-coast bases closest to Tenerife South airport, while Puerto de la Cruz in the north mixes Lago Martiánez, the Castillo de San Felipe and an archaeological museum. Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island capital, has Playa de Las Teresitas, San Andrés Castle and the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre.
On Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise are both within ten minutes of the airport, with Arrecife and its Castillo de San José in between. Gran Canaria pairs the big resort of Maspalomas with Telde near the airport. Fuerteventura splits between Corralejo in the north, the jumping-off point for Lobos Island, and Costa Calma in the south, the base for Cofete.

When to book
There is no real off-season. The Adeje figures show highs of 21°C in January and December, 23°C in April and 26°C in October, with July and August the hottest and driest months. February is the coolest at around 20°C, and March brings the most rain of the year, though it still averages only five wet days.
That year-round warmth makes canary island breaks popular for winter sun, at Christmas and over February half-term as well as in summer. School-holiday weeks are in highest demand, so families tied to term dates usually book furthest ahead, while anyone free to travel in May, June or November has more choice.
Getting there from the UK
Direct flights from the UK serve Tenerife South (TFS), Lanzarote (ACE), Gran Canaria (LPA) and Fuerteventura (FUE). Transfers are short by most standards: Arrecife is five minutes from Lanzarote airport and Costa Teguise ten, Playa de las Américas 14 minutes and Adeje 15 from Tenerife South, with Los Gigantes about 30 and Puerto de la Cruz around 37.
Gran Canaria airport is seven minutes from Telde and about 24 from Maspalomas, while Fuerteventura's airport is roughly 27 minutes from Corralejo and 42 from Costa Calma. Ferry ports at Corralejo, Playa Blanca and Arrecife make it straightforward to hop between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote during a stay.
Booking your package
Canaries package holidays bundle the flight, hotel and airport transfer into one booking, and when sold as a package they are ATOL-protected. In practice that means one confirmation, a transfer waiting at TFS, ACE, LPA or FUE, and a choice of board basis, from self-catering to all inclusive.
On this page you can compare live travel packages to the Canary Islands from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach, so Jet2holidays Canary Islands deals sit next to TUI Canary Islands options and the rest. You can also check hotel prices, see tours and tickets for places such as Loro Parque or Siam Park, and compare car hire if you want to explore beyond your resort.
