Choosing a Base by the Coast

Costa Teguise is a compact coastal resort rather than a historic town, so the main choice is how close to the sea you want to be. Staying near Playa de las Cucharas puts you closest to the water and within walking distance of El Bastián and the aquarium. Bases nearer Playa del Jablillo and Playa de los Charcos suit families who want calmer beach days. Golfers may prefer to be on the side of town nearest Costa Teguise Golf.

With a population of around 7,600, the resort has a relaxed scale. If you want a livelier town atmosphere, Arrecife is just 4 miles away. The hotel listings on this page show live prices for your dates.

Getting there from the UK

Flights, Transfers and Ferries

The nearest airport is Lanzarote (ACE), about 7.5 miles from Costa Teguise. It has direct flights from the United Kingdom, and the drive to the resort takes roughly 10 minutes, one of the shortest transfers you will find.

Driving from Calais is not practical, as Lanzarote is an island. Once you are here, though, ferries link it to its neighbours. The port at Arrecife, about 4 miles away, has sailings to Las Palmas and to Corralejo via Playa Blanca. From Playa Blanca, about 22 miles from the resort, the crossing to Corralejo on Fuerteventura takes around 30 minutes.

A little further afield, San Bartolomé and the tiny village of Mala are both about 7 miles away. Tías is about 9 miles off, and Haría about 10. For a longer day out, catch the 30-minute ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo on Fuerteventura.

Practical Notes Before You Go

Costa Teguise is a small, low-lying resort, so expect a relaxed pace rather than big-town nightlife. For more shops and evening choice, Arrecife is 4 miles away.

The weather barely has an off-season. If you travel in February, though, pack a light layer for the roughly five rainy days and highs of around 20°C. Many of the nearby villages, such as Haría, Mala and Guatiza, are spread around the island, so car hire makes day trips much simpler.
