Seville Spain Weather: Month by Month Guide for Travellers

City · Spain

Seville spain weather follows a clear rhythm: mild, fairly short winters, a damp spell in spring and autumn, and summers that are properly hot, with average highs of 37°C in July and August and almost no rain. For British travellers this inland Andalusian city is less about the beach and more about walking between the Cathedral, the Reales Alcázares and the Roman ruins of Italica, so the temperature matters more than the sea. April, May and October are the most comfortable months for sightseeing, while January to March, November and December bring cooler, quieter days. Below you'll find the real monthly figures, the wettest weeks and what to pack for each season.

The climate at a glance

Seville weather is shaped by its inland position in Andalusia. The warmest months are July and August, both averaging 37°C by day and 22°C at night, with June and September not far behind at 33°C and 32°C. The coolest month is January, with highs around 16°C and nights dropping to 6°C. Rain arrives mainly in spring and autumn: October is the wettest month by volume at 87mm, while March has the most wet days, around ten.

Because the city is not on the coast, there is no sea temperature to plan around; the nearest ports, Huelva and Cádiz, are roughly 52 and 62 miles away. Getting in is easy: Seville airport is about 7 minutes from the centre and Jerez about an hour, both with direct flights from the UK. You can compare package holidays, hotel prices, tours and car hire on this page.

What each month brings

Winter and early spring are the shoulder season. January sees 16°C highs and five wet days. Seville february weather is noticeably brighter, with highs of 19°C, 8°C nights and only 31mm of rain over five days, making it one of the drier winter months. Seville march weather is the exception: the temperature in March climbs to 21°C, but it is the wettest month for frequency, with around ten rainy days and 80mm.

Seville april weather is a favourite for good reason. The temperature in April averages 23°C by day and 12°C at night, though seven wet days mean a shower is likely at some point. May is warmer and drier at 29°C with just four wet days, then June steps up to 33°C. July and August are the peak of the heat at 37°C, with no rainy days on average, and September eases back to 32°C.

Seville october weather brings pleasant 27°C afternoons and 16°C evenings, but also the year's heaviest rainfall at 87mm across about seven days, so expect sunshine broken by the odd downpour. Seville november weather cools to 20°C with seven wet days, and December settles at 17°C highs and 8°C nights with six days of rain.

What to pack by season

For summer, from June to September, pack the lightest clothing you own, a sun hat and sunscreen: daytime highs between 32°C and 37°C make midday sightseeing hard work, and nights stay warm at 19°C to 22°C, so a jumper is unnecessary.

In the best months of April, May and October, light layers work well, with a thin jacket for evenings that fall to 12°C to 16°C. Bring a compact umbrella in April and October, as both see around seven wet days.

From November to March, think of a mild British spring by day and a cool evening after dark. Highs of 16°C to 21°C call for a light jumper, but January and February nights at 6°C to 8°C need a proper coat. March is the month most likely to need waterproof shoes and an umbrella.

What to pack for Seville in October

  • T-shirts by day and a light layer for the evening: October averages 27°C by day and 16°C at night.
  • A light rain jacket: about 7 rainy days in October.
