Seville Holidays: Package Deals, City Breaks and When to Go
City · Spain
Seville holidays work beautifully for British travellers because the city is so easy to reach. Seville airport has direct flights from the UK, and the drive into the centre takes around seven minutes. Within a mile or so of each other you will find Seville Cathedral, a former mosque, and the royal palace of the Reales Alcázares. About six miles out of town lies Italica, the ancient Roman city at Santiponce. Spring and autumn bring the kindest weather, with highs of 23°C in April and 27°C in October. Below I explain how a package fits together, which part of the city suits you and when to travel.

Who this city suits
Couples and culture lovers get the most from holidays in Seville. The centre packs in palaces and museums: the Reales Alcázares, Casa de Pilatos, Palacio de las Dueñas, the Museo de Bellas Artes and the house of Murillo. A seville mini break of three or four nights covers the essentials at an easy pace.
Families have a good option too. Isla Mágica, a theme park on the Camas side of the river, is roughly 2.5 miles from the centre and gives children a full day out between visits to monuments. History enthusiasts should save time for Italica at Santiponce, an ancient city of Hispania Baetica with its own Roman amphitheatre.
This is an inland city with no beach, so think of it as a seville city break rather than a sun-lounger fortnight. If you want the coast as well, you could pair your stay with time elsewhere in Andalusia.
Where to base yourself
Central Sevilla is home to most of the sights and, in practice, most of the hotel stays you will find in packages. With Seville Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, the Plaza de toros de la Maestranza and the Palacio de San Telmo all around a mile from the centre, you can walk almost everywhere. The Isabel II Bridge, about two miles out, takes you across the river.
Camas, around four miles from the centre, is a separate town of some 28,000 people. It is the gateway to Isla Mágica and the old Cartuja monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, and tours and activities run from there.
Santiponce is smaller still, with about 7,500 residents, and lies roughly five miles out. People come for Italica and its amphitheatre. Most travellers visit both towns as day outings from a base in the city instead of staying there.

Best months to travel
April, May and October are the sweet spot. Expect highs of about 23°C in April, 29°C in May and 27°C in October, with nights between 12°C and 16°C. That is comfortable weather for long days of walking. Bear in mind that October can be fairly wet, averaging seven rain days.
High summer is fierce. July and August average 37°C, with virtually no rain, and June reaches 33°C. Heat-tolerant travellers can manage, but plan indoor visits for the afternoons.
Winter suits short breaks to Seville. January still reaches about 16°C and December 17°C, and the main monuments are quieter. March is the wettest month for rain days, averaging ten. As with any destination, package prices tend to rise during UK school holidays, so travelling outside them gives you more choice.
Getting there from the UK
Two airports have direct flights from the UK. Seville airport (SVQ) is the obvious choice, around seven minutes from the city, eleven from Camas and twelve from Santiponce. That makes even a two-night trip worthwhile.
Jerez airport (XRY) is the alternative, roughly 63 minutes' drive from Seville. It is worth checking if flight times or departure airports suit you better. On a package, transfers to your hotel are usually included. If you plan day trips to Italica or further afield in Andalusia, you can compare car hire on this page.
Booking your package
A package holiday to Seville bundles your flight, hotel and usually your airport transfer into one booking. When it is sold as a package, it is ATOL-protected, which matters if anything goes wrong with an airline or operator. You choose the hotel location, length of stay and board basis. Many city travellers prefer room only or bed and breakfast so they can eat out.
On this page you can compare live deals for package holidays to Seville from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach side by side. If you would rather build your own trip, you can also check hotel prices, browse tours and tickets for the cathedral, the Alcázar and Italica, and compare car hire.

What are the best places to visit around Seville?

Seville airport (SVQ) has direct UK flights and is about seven minutes' drive from the city. Jerez airport (XRY) also has direct flights and is roughly 63 minutes away by road.
Is Seville good for a family holiday?
Yes, especially if you mix sightseeing with Isla Mágica, the theme park across the river on the Camas side, about 2.5 miles from the centre. Avoid the peak summer heat of July and August, when highs average 37°C.
