Where to Stay in Seville: Hotels Near Sevilla Must See Sights

City · Spain

Choosing a base in Seville is mostly about how close you want to sleep to the sights. Nearly every Sevilla must see sits within a mile or so of the centre: Seville Cathedral, the Reales Alcázares, Casa de Pilatos and the Plaza de toros de la Maestranza. Across the river, Camas and Santiponce offer quieter nights near Isla Mágica and the Roman ruins of Italica. With Seville airport only 7 minutes' drive away and direct flights from the UK, arriving is quick, so the real decision is the neighbourhood. Below, I walk through each area and how to book well. Which area suits your stay

Central Sevilla is the obvious choice for a first visit. It is a city of nearly 700,000 people and holds by far the most sights: the Cathedral, the Reales Alcázares, Casa de Pilatos, Palacio de las Dueñas, Casa de Murillo and the Archbishop's Palace are all within roughly a mile of one another, so most of the Sevilla things to see are a walk from your door. The Museo de Bellas Artes and the Basílica de la Macarena are a little further out, at around 2 miles.

Camas lies about 4 miles from the centre on the far side of the river, an 11-minute drive from the airport. It is the closer base for Isla Mágica, the theme park, and for the old Cartuja monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, which makes it worth a look for families who want the park on their doorstep.

Santiponce, a small town of around 7,500 people roughly 5 miles out, is the quietest option. Its draw is Italica, the ancient city of Hispania Baetica, with its Roman amphitheatre. Staying here suits travellers who prefer peaceful evenings and will drive or take a taxi into Seville for the main sights.

What kind of stay to expect

Because the city itself is so large and so dense with monuments, central Sevilla is where you will find the widest spread of accommodation, from city hotels to apartments in the old quarters. If your list is built around the Sevilla top 10 sights, paying a little more for a central bed usually saves time and taxis.

Camas and Santiponce are much smaller towns, so the choice is narrower and the feel is more local and residential. They make sense if you have car hire, want space and quiet after a hot day, or have a specific reason to be close to Isla Mágica or Italica. Compare what is actually available in each before you commit, as the live listings on this page show.

When and how to book

April, May and October are the best months: daytime highs of around 23°C to 29°C make walking between sights comfortable. If you are wondering about the best time to visit Setas de Sevilla or anywhere else in the centre, the same months apply. July and August reach around 37°C with almost no rain, so a hotel with air conditioning and a short walk to the sights matters more then. March and October are the wettest months, worth knowing if you plan to spend whole days outdoors.

Most British travellers fly into Seville airport, 7 minutes from the city, 11 minutes from Camas and 12 from Santiponce. Jerez airport is an alternative, around an hour's drive. Package deals combining flight, hotel and transfers are available from several providers, and spring and school holidays tend to fill first, so book early for those dates. You can compare packages, hotel prices, car hire and tickets for the sights on this page.
