Salou Spain Weather: Month-by-Month Guide for Holidays

Salou's weather divides neatly into three parts. From April to August it is warm and settled, with highs climbing from 21°C to 31°C and only four to seven rainy days a month. September and October turn showery. Winter, from November to March, is mild and fairly dry, with highs that rarely fall below 15°C.

The warmest month is August, averaging 31°C by day and 23°C at night. July is close behind at 30°C. January is the coolest, with highs of 15°C and lows of 6°C. Rain is generally light. The exception is the autumn spell: September brings 87mm over nine days and October 145mm over twelve, the wettest month by a wide margin. December is the driest, with just 15mm.

Winter is quiet but rarely cold. January reaches 15°C, February 16°C and March 19°C, with four or five wet days a month. December averages 17°C by day and is the driest month of the year. These are shoulder months: fine for walks to the Far de Salou lighthouse or the Roman remains at Vil·la de la Burguera, though not for sunbathing.

Salou weather in April reaches 21°C, with lows of 12°C and six wet days. Salou weather in May brings 23°C and the same number of rainy days, so the spring sun is pleasant without being fierce. By Salou weather in June the temperature has jumped to 27°C, with nights at 19°C. June has seven wet days, mostly short showers. July (30°C) and August (31°C) are the hottest months, and August has only four rainy days. This is peak season for the beaches and for PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, and school-holiday weeks are the busiest and most sought after.

Salou weather in September is still warm at 27°C, but rainfall more than doubles to 87mm over nine days. October weather is the wettest of the year, with 145mm across twelve days. The temperature in October still averages 24°C by day and 16°C at night, so it stays mild between downpours. November eases to 20°C with six wet days.

For July and August, pack light cotton clothes, a sun hat and high-factor sun cream. With highs of 30°C to 31°C and nights above 20°C, you will rarely need more than a thin layer after dark. June is much the same, though a light cardigan helps on evenings near 19°C.

In April and May, take summer clothes plus a jumper or light jacket. Nights fall to 12°C to 14°C, and the six wet days a month call for a compact umbrella. In September and October, add a proper waterproof and shoes that cope with puddles, as autumn rain arrives in heavy bursts.

From November to March, bring layers: a warm jacket for evenings around 6°C to 11°C, and long sleeves for days between 15°C and 20°C. It is good walking weather for the coastal path towards Cala Font and Cala Vinya, so comfortable footwear earns its place.
