Salou Holidays: Package Deals from the UK on the Costa Dorada
Resort · Costa Dorada · Spain
Salou holidays are among the easiest beach trips a British family can book. Reus airport, served by direct flights from the UK, sits about seven minutes' drive from the resort, so the transfer is over almost before the children have finished asking whether we're there yet. Salou and its quieter neighbour La Pineda, around two miles along the coast, share a long run of beaches and coves, Roman villa remains and PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park on the doorstep. Summers are hot and reliably dry, with highs of 30°C to 31°C in July and August. On this page you can compare package deals, hotel prices, tours and car hire side by side before you book.

Who this resort suits best
Families are the natural fit for holidays in Salou Spain. The short hop from Reus means no long coach ride after the flight, and the town keeps its big draws close: PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park is about a mile away, Hard Rock Entertainment World sits just over half a mile from the centre, and Llevant Beach is right in town. For a family holiday Salou Spain makes the logistics unusually simple.
Couples and anyone after a gentler pace have options too. The coves listed around La Pineda, such as Cala Vinya, Cala Font and Cala de Penya Tallada, feel smaller than the main town beaches, and the Far de Salou lighthouse makes a good walking target. History lovers can seek out the Roman villa sites of Vil·la de la Burguera and Vil·la de Barenys, both within about a mile of town.
Salou or La Pineda
Salou itself is the larger of the two, with around 26,800 residents, and it is where most visitors base themselves. Llevant Beach is the main town strand, with Platja dels Capellans and Platja Llarga close by, and Cap de Sant Pere a little further round the headland. Staying here puts you closest to the theme park attractions.
La Pineda lies roughly two miles away and has a population of about 17,300. Its own Playa La Pineda is joined by a string of smaller beaches and coves, including Platja Cala Crancs and Platja dels Enlliscalls, plus the archaeological site of La punta de la Cella. Both places share the same seven-minute transfer from Reus, so the choice comes down to whether you want to be in the thick of things or a short hop away from it.

Which months to travel
The best months run from April to August. April averages 21°C and May 23°C, pleasant for exploring and walking the coast. June climbs to 27°C, and July and August peak at 30°C and 31°C, with August having only around four rainy days. These summer weeks overlap the UK school holidays, so packages for those dates tend to cost more and are worth booking early.
September still reaches 27°C but rain picks up, and October is the wettest month, with about 145mm across some 12 rainy days. Winter is mild rather than beach weather, with highs of 15°C to 17°C from December to February, which suits a quiet off-season break more than a swimming holiday.
Getting there from the UK
Two airports have direct flights from the UK. Reus is the obvious choice: it is about seven minutes by road to both Salou and La Pineda, making transfers on a package almost instant. Barcelona is the alternative, around 70 minutes to La Pineda and 72 minutes to Salou, and it is worth considering if flight times or departure airports suit you better.
If you would rather travel by sea, Barcelona's ferry port is about 56 miles from Salou. Car hire can be compared here too, useful if you plan to explore beyond the resort.
Comparing your package deals
A package holiday bundles flight, hotel and transfers into one booking, and when it is sold as a package it is ATOL-protected, which matters if anything goes wrong with your flight or operator. You choose your board basis, from room only through to all inclusive, which many families prefer for keeping the daily budget predictable.
This page lets you compare Salou holiday packages from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach side by side, so jet2holidays Salou deals and TUI holidays to Salou sit next to each other rather than in separate browser tabs. You can also check hotel prices on their own, look at tours and tickets for the water park and other attractions, and compare car hire.
