When value and weather meet
Puerto Rico's year divides neatly. July and August are the hottest months, with highs of 31°C and 33°C and no recorded rain, but they coincide with the British summer school holidays, when package demand is at its peak. August is also the one month left off the recommended list for this resort, largely because of that heat.
The months around it are where cheap holidays in Puerto Rico Gran Canaria usually turn up. May and June bring highs of 25°C to 26°C and only three or four rain days, before families arrive in force. Late September and October are another sweet spot, with highs of 27°C to 28°C once the schools are back.
Winter is the other option. January to March stays at 23°C to 25°C, and January averages a single rain day. Avoid Christmas, February half term and Easter if budget matters most, as prices generally climb during any UK school break. March is the wettest month here, though 33mm is still modest by British standards.
Where to stay for less
Puerto Rico is a compact resort, so the main choice is how close to the sand you need to be. Accommodation directly above Playa de Puerto Rico, about half a mile from the centre, tends to be in highest demand. Rooms a little further up the hillside or back from the seafront often cost less, and the walk down is short.
It also pays to look along the coast. Playa de Balitos, Anfi Del Mar Beach and Playa de Cura lie around a mile and a quarter away, while Playa de Patalavaca and Playa de Tiritaña are close to two miles off. Widening your search to include stays near these beaches gives you more hotels to compare, and more choice usually means better value. You can check hotel prices for the area on this page.

Simple ways to save
Flexibility is the biggest saving. Midweek departures are often better value than Friday and Saturday flights, and checking several UK airports rather than only your nearest can open up lower fares, particularly from regional airports outside London.
Self-catering cuts the daily spend, especially for families, while a package with flight, hotel and transfers bundled together keeps costs predictable and protects you if plans change. Book early for school-holiday dates, when demand is high; outside those weeks there is more room to wait for offers. Questions people ask
What is the best beach in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria?
Playa de Puerto Rico is the resort's own beach, about half a mile from the centre. Nearby, Anfi Del Mar Beach, Playa de Balitos and Playa de Cura sit around a mile and a quarter away, with Playa de Patalavaca and Playa de Tiritaña close to two miles off.
