Gran Canaria Holidays All Inclusive: Resorts and When to Go
Island · Canary Islands · Spain
Gran Canaria holidays all inclusive are one of the simplest ways British travellers escape the grey months. Flights land direct from the UK at Gran Canaria airport (LPA), and the south of the island keeps daytime highs around 23°C right through January, with barely a day of rain. The resorts most people book, Puerto Rico, Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Puerto de Mogán, sit along the sunny southern coast, while Las Palmas is the island's city. Below, I explain what all inclusive normally covers, which resorts suit a larger resort-style hotel, when to travel and how to book well. You can compare live all-inclusive package deals on this page.

What all inclusive usually covers
On an all inclusive board basis, your main meals are included, usually buffet-style, along with local drinks such as house wine, beer, soft drinks and spirits served at the hotel bars. Most hotels add snacks during the day, which matters on an island where you will spend long hours by the pool. Branded spirits, cocktails and some à la carte restaurants can carry a supplement, so read the board description before you book.
A Gran Canaria all inclusive works best if you plan to stay mostly within your resort area, but it does not have to tie you down. Day trips to the Maspalomas Lighthouse, Palmitos Park or the Barranco de Guayadeque are all on the island, and you can see tours and tickets here if you want to break up the week.
Which resort suits you
Puerto Rico draws the most interest from British travellers, and with Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés it forms the southern stretch where larger resort-style hotels are most at home. Maspalomas, with its lighthouse and the Meloneras area by the beach, is a natural choice if you want a big pool complex near the sea and easy evening strolls.
Puerto de Mogán, further west in the Mogán municipality, has a quieter, harbour feel and suits couples looking at adults-only options. Las Palmas is a working city rather than a resort, better for culture and a day out than a fortnight of all inclusive. Families tend to favour Maspalomas for Palmitos Park, a zoo and garden close by, while walkers can head inland to Pilancones Natural Park or the Riscos de Tirajana from the south.

When to book your week
Gran Canaria earns its winter-sun reputation: highs sit at 23°C from December to February, and January sees just one rain day on average at Maspalomas. Spring brings 25 to 26°C, while July and August climb to 31 and 33°C with no rain at all, hot enough that shaded pools and an included snack bar earn their keep.
September and October stay warm at 27 to 28°C. November is the wettest month, though still only around five rain days. For most travellers almost any month works, with August the one to avoid if you dislike real heat. School-holiday weeks are always in higher demand, so book early for half-term, Easter and summer.
Booking tips for all inclusive
A package bundles flight, hotel and transfers, which is how most British travellers book all inclusive to Gran Canaria. The airport sits close to Agüimes (6 minutes) and Telde (7 minutes), with Santa Lucía around 14 minutes away; the southern resorts take longer, so check the transfer time in each deal.
This page shows live deals from Jet2holidays, TUI holidays, loveholidays and On the Beach, so you can compare board basis, flight times and room types side by side. Families should confirm child pricing, family rooms and whether a kids' club is included; if you want an adults-only or 5 star all inclusive, filter for it rather than assuming. Car hire is worth comparing too for a day at Teror or the Painted Cave at Gáldar.
