Fuerteventura Weather: Month by Month for UK Holidays

Island · Canary Islands · Spain

Fuerteventura weather is about as steady as Spanish holiday weather gets. The climate table, taken from Corralejo on the island's northern tip, shows daytime highs between 21°C in February and 28°C in August, and night-time lows that never drop below 16°C. Rain is scarce: February is the wettest month, with around six wet days, and most months see only one to four. That is why every month of the year counts as a good one for a holiday here, from a winter week in Caleta de Fuste to a summer fortnight in Corralejo or Costa Calma. The live forecast sits above this guide; below is the year as a whole.

What the climate is like

The figures here come from the climate station at Corralejo, and they describe a warm, dry island with a narrow range of temperatures. Highs climb gently from 21°C to 23°C over late winter and early spring, settle at 24°C to 25°C from April to June, and peak at 27°C to 28°C from July to October before easing to 26°C in November and 22°C in December. Lows follow the same curve, from 16°C in the first three months to 22°C in August.

Add up the monthly rainfall and the whole year comes to roughly 86 mm, which is why there is no real shoulder season: every month from January to December is listed as a good time to go. For the Fuerteventura weather forecast before you fly, or the weather now and today, use the live panel above rather than the averages, which describe the pattern rather than any single week.

The year month by month

Winter is mild rather than hot. January brings highs of 22°C, lows of 16°C and usually a single wet day. February is the coolest month by day at 21°C and the wettest, with about 15 mm spread over six days, so a passing shower is more likely than at any other time. Fuerteventura March weather settles again: the temperature in Fuerteventura in March reaches about 23°C by day and 16°C at night, with three wet days. April is the driest spring month at 4 mm, and May reaches 24°C.

Summer warms steadily. June hits 25°C with lows of 20°C, July 27°C with only 3 mm of rain, and August is the warmest month at 28°C by day and 22°C at night. September holds at 27°C, and the autumn is long and warm: Fuerteventura weather in October still reaches 27°C with three wet days, and in November it is 26°C with lows of 19°C. Weather in Fuerteventura in December drops back to 22°C by day and 17°C at night, with around 10 mm of rain over three days.

The climate table does not include sea temperatures, so we do not quote them here. School holidays in summer, at Easter and at Christmas tend to push package prices up, while the weather stays reliable all year; you can compare packages from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach on this page.

What to pack by season

From December to March, pack for warm days and cooler evenings. Daytime highs of 21°C to 23°C mean shorts and T-shirts at the beach, but lows of 16°C to 17°C call for a light jumper or jacket after dark, and a compact waterproof is worth the space in February, the month with the most wet days.

From April to November, think light clothing, a sun hat and plenty of sun cream, especially from July to October when highs sit at 27°C to 28°C and nights stay at 21°C to 22°C. Rain is rare enough in these months that an umbrella can stay at home. Comfortable shoes are useful if you plan to drive inland to Betancuría or explore Jandía Natural Park, and you can compare car hire at the airport here.

What to pack for Fuerteventura in October
