What the climate is like

If you are searching for the weather in Corralejo, Spain, the short answer is that it changes very little through the year. Winter is mild rather than cold, with January at 22°C by day and 16°C at night. Summer is warm rather than scorching, peaking in August at 28°C with nights of 22°C. That narrow band explains why all twelve months count as good months to visit, with no quieter shoulder season to work around.

Rain is scarce throughout the year. Monthly totals run from 3mm to 15mm, and most months have only one to four wet days. The exception is February, which collects 15mm over about six days. Even then, a wet day here usually means a passing shower, not a washed-out week.

Month by month through the year

January to March is the coolest stretch. February is the coolest month at 21°C by day and 16°C at night, and also the wettest, with around six rain days. January is drier, with a single wet day, and March warms to 23°C with three wet days. April and May both reach 24°C, and nights rise from 17°C to 18°C.

From June the warmth builds. June reaches 25°C, July 27°C and August 28°C, the warmest month of the year, with overnight lows of 21°C to 22°C. July and August are also among the driest months, with one or two wet days each. This is the time for long days on Playa de la Goleta in town or out towards the beaches by Corralejo Natural Park.

The warmth lasts well into autumn. September and October hold at 27°C, and November is still 26°C with 19°C nights, which makes it a strong choice for late sun outside the school holidays. December cools to 22°C with about three wet days. For exact dates nearer your departure, the 14 day weather forecast for Fuerteventura and Corralejo shown at the top of this page is a far better guide than any long-range outlook. A 25 day weather forecast for Corralejo and Fuerteventura can only show general trends.

What to pack by season

For summer, from June to October, pack light clothes, swimwear, a sun hat and strong sun cream, because highs sit at 25°C to 28°C. Evenings stay at 20°C or above, so a thin layer is usually all you need after dark.

From December to March, daytime is still shorts weather at 21°C to 23°C. Nights drop to around 16°C, so bring a light jumper or jacket for dinner out. A compact waterproof is sensible in February, the month with the most wet days. In spring and November, pack for summer days and add one warmer layer for the evenings. If you plan a day out to the protected landscapes of Lobos Island or the dunes of the natural park, pack comfortable shoes, water and sun protection whatever the month.

What to pack for Corralejo in October

  • T-shirts by day and a light layer for the evening: October averages 27°C by day and 21°C at night.
