Corralejo Holidays: Beaches, Lobos Island and Year-Round Sun
Resort · Canary Islands · Fuerteventura · Spain
Corralejo holidays suit British travellers who want a beach town with real life in it rather than a purpose-built strip. This coastal resort of around 13,600 people sits at the northern tip of Fuerteventura, with Playa de la Goleta on its doorstep and a string of small beaches within a mile of the centre. Lobos Island, an uninhabited volcanic island, lies about 3 miles away, and Corralejo Natural Park is a similar distance from town. Fuerteventura airport, which has direct flights from the UK, is a 27-minute drive. The climate barely dips: daytime highs run from 21°C in February to 28°C in August, with very little rain in any month.

What kind of place it is
Corralejo is a working town as much as a resort, home to roughly 13,600 people on the northern coast of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. It has its own ferry port right in town, which gives the seafront a lived-in feel, and the beaches start almost the moment you step out of the centre.
What sets it apart from other resorts on the island is what lies around it. Three protected areas are within about 3 miles: Corralejo Natural Park on the land side, and Lobos Island with the Islote de Lobos Natural Park out to sea. The Punta Martiño Lighthouse stands on Lobos, roughly 4 miles from town. For a fortnight of beach time with a bit of wild landscape to explore, it is a well-placed base.
Beaches in and around town
Corralejo is a single resort rather than a cluster of villages, so the real choice is which stretch of coast you base yourself near. Playa de la Goleta is right in the centre, and within about a mile you have Corralejo Viejo, Las Clavellinas, Playa Vista Lobos and Las Lajas de Punta Prieta, all easy to reach on foot from most of town.
A little further out, El Charco de Bristol is around a mile away, while Playa del Pozo and El Bajo Negro sit about 2 miles off. Playa de la Concha is roughly 2.5 miles away, Playa de los Matos about 3 miles and Playa del Moro close to 4 miles. With this many beaches so close together, it pays to try several rather than settle on one.
When to book
There is no off-season to speak of. Daytime highs sit at 21°C to 23°C from December to March, climb to 24°C or 25°C from April to June, and peak at 27°C to 28°C from July to October, with November still reaching 26°C. Night-time lows never drop below 16°C, so evenings stay mild even in midwinter.
Rain is scarce throughout the year. February is the dampest month, with around 15mm spread over six days; July sees just one rainy day on average. Winter sun seekers will find January particularly dry, while families tied to school holidays can expect the warmest weather in the summer break. Prices tend to rise during UK school holidays, so booking early for those dates is sensible.
Getting there from the UK
Fuerteventura airport (FUE) has direct flights from the UK and is the nearest airport to Corralejo, about 27 minutes away by road. On a package holiday the transfer is usually included, so you step off the plane and onto a coach or shuttle without needing to arrange anything yourself.
If you prefer to explore under your own steam, car hire from the airport makes the short drive north straightforward and lets you reach the farther beaches and the natural park easily. Corralejo also has its own ferry port in town, and other ports are listed at Playa Blanca, about 9 miles away, and Arrecife, about 25 miles away.
Booking your package
Most British travellers come to Corralejo on a package: return flights to Fuerteventura, accommodation and the airport transfer bundled together. Board basis varies, from self-catering or bed and breakfast through to half board and all inclusive, so it is worth comparing like with like. On this page you can compare package deals from Jet2holidays, TUI, loveholidays and On the Beach side by side.
If you would rather put your own trip together, you can check hotel prices, compare car hire and browse tours and tickets here too, including activities around the town. Prices and availability change constantly, so the live buttons are the place to see what is on offer for your dates.
