Puerto Pollensa Weather: Month by Month Guide for Mallorca

Resort · Balearic Islands · Mallorca · Spain

Puerto Pollensa weather follows a clear Mallorcan rhythm: long, hot summers, mild winters and a few wetter spells in between. On the bay in the island's north, daytime highs climb from 16°C in January to 32°C in July, while nights in the depths of winter settle around 8°C. The figures below come from the nearby Alcúdia climate station and cover temperature, rainfall and the number of wet days each month, so you can see which weeks suit a beach fortnight, which suit walking out to the Formentor lighthouse, and which are best left for a city break closer to home. The live forecast above covers the days ahead; this page covers the year.

What the climate is like

Port de Pollença has a warm Mediterranean pattern with a sharp summer peak. July and August are the warmest months, at 32°C and 31°C by day with nights that stay around 23°C. January and February are the coolest, with highs of 16°C and lows of 8°C, and December is barely warmer at 17°C.

Rain is spread more evenly than many British travellers expect. February is the wettest month by volume at 95mm, yet May has the most wet days, 12 on average, even with highs of 23°C. July is almost completely dry. The best months to visit, by our reckoning from the data, are April, August and November, with the rest of the year outside high summer working well as shoulder months.

For short-range planning, the live forecast at the top of this page shows the coming days, and many readers also check BBC weather for Puerto Pollensa before they travel. A weather forecast for Puerto Pollensa is only reliable a few days out, so treat any longer outlook as a rough guide.

Month by month through the year

January to March are mild and quiet. Highs sit at 16°C in January and February, rising to 19°C in March, which is also one of the driest months at 26mm over 5 wet days. February is the one to watch for rain, with 95mm across 7 days. April lifts to 21°C with 7 wet days, a pleasant month for walks and the views from Mirador de la Creueta, and May reaches 23°C but with the year's highest count of rainy days at 12.

Summer arrives properly in June at 28°C, then July and August bring the heat at 32°C and 31°C, with nights of 23°C. July has only 2 wet days; August has 5, often as short showers. This is beach weather for El Caló and Ca'n Cullerassa, both about 2 miles from the resort, and it is also the period when school-holiday demand is at its height.

September stays warm at 27°C but brings 10 wet days, and October holds on to 25°C with 9. November cools to 21°C with 7 wet days and is one of the best months for walking and sightseeing in comfort. December drops back to 17°C with 6 wet days and 23mm of rain.

What to pack by season

From June to September, pack for real heat: light cotton or linen, a sun hat, high-factor sun cream and something to cover your shoulders at midday. Nights stay around 19°C to 23°C, so a light layer is all you need after dark. If you plan the drive or walk out towards Far de Formentor, about 8 miles away, bring water and proper footwear.

In spring and autumn, pack summer clothes plus a jumper and a light waterproof. April, May, October and November all have between 7 and 12 wet days, and evenings can drop to 12°C or 13°C in April and November.

From December to March, think of a mild British spring. Highs of 16°C to 19°C feel warm in the sun, but nights at 8°C call for a proper jacket, and an umbrella is worth packing, especially for February.

Where the figures come from

The monthly figures on this page are recorded at the Alcúdia climate station, a short hop around the bay from Port de Pollença; Alcúdia's ferry port is about 6 miles away. Conditions in the resort itself track these readings closely, but our data does not include separate figures for the higher ground on the Formentor peninsula, so allow for it feeling breezier and cooler out on the headland.

What to pack for Puerto Pollensa in October

  • T-shirts by day and a light layer for the evening: October averages 25°C by day and 18°C at night.
  • A light rain jacket: about 9 rainy days in October.
