Who the resort suits
Families are well served. Siam Park, the island's best-known water park, is less than a mile from the centre, Aqualand Costa Adeje is about a mile away, and the parrots at Loros del Sur and the animals at Monkey Park, around 2.5 miles out, fill the days when the children have had enough of the sea.
Couples and golfers have Golf Las Américas on the doorstep, under a mile from the resort. If you prefer quieter walking, the protected volcanic landscape of the Reserva Natural Especial del Malpaís de la Rasca lies about 4 miles away, with the Punta Rasca Lighthouse and Castillo de La Rasca nearby, a good contrast to the busier seafront.
Beaches and areas nearby
Playa de las Américas is a compact coastal resort of around 3,000 residents, and much of its appeal lies in what sits within a mile or two. Playa de las Vistas, Honda Beach and Playa de Los Cristianos are all about a mile away towards Los Cristianos, while Playa del Duque and Playa Los Callados lie roughly 2 miles along the Costa Adeje coast.
For a change of scene, La Arenita is about 5 miles away near the Rasca headland. The port at Los Cristianos, just over a mile away, has ferries to other islands, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is about 81 miles by sea.
