Lloret de Mar Hotels: Where to Stay on the Costa Brava
Resort · Costa Brava · Spain
Choosing between Lloret de Mar hotels comes down to two questions: which stretch of coast you want outside your door, and how far you are happy to walk for dinner. Lloret is a coastal town of around 37,000 people on the Costa Brava, with Platja de Lloret right in the centre and a run of smaller beaches and coves along the shore either side. Blanes, about 3 miles down the coast, is a slightly larger town with its own bay and castle. Girona airport is only 21 minutes from Lloret by road, so you can be at your hotel quickly. This page shows live hotel prices so you can compare both towns side by side.

Central Lloret de Mar is the obvious base for a first visit. You are on Platja de Lloret, with the Museo del Mar in town and the Castell de Sant Joan de Lloret about half a mile away. Platja de Fenals and Cala Banys are also roughly half a mile out, so a central stay keeps several beaches within an easy stroll.
If you prefer quieter coves, look at the edges of Lloret. Platja de sa Boadella and Cala d'en Trons are a little over a mile from the centre, while Platja de Santa Cristina and Platja de Canyelles are about 2 miles away. Staying nearer these means a calmer feel, though you may want a car or a taxi for evenings in town.
Blanes, about 3 miles south-west, is a town in its own right of around 40,000 people. It has Platja de la Badia de Blanes and Platja de s'Abanell, the hilltop Castell de Sant Joan and the Castell palau dels Vescomtes de Cabrera, plus coves such as Cala Forcanera and Cala de Sant Francesc. It is also the closer of the two towns to Barcelona airport, at around 64 minutes by road.
What kind of stay suits you
Think about your stay in terms of location rather than labels. A room close to Platja de Lloret puts you in the heart of a large coastal resort town, with the beach, the museum and the evening life on your doorstep. A base near the coves, such as Santa Cristina, Canyelles or sa Boadella, trades that convenience for a quieter setting by smaller beaches.
In Blanes, the choice is similar: stay near the town's bay beach for walkable days, or closer to s'Abanell or the coves if you want more space. Most British travellers book this coast as a package, with flight, hotel and transfer bundled together, and you then choose a board basis to suit how often you plan to eat out. You can compare package deals from several providers alongside the live hotel prices on this page.
When and how to book
July and August are the peak months, with highs of 29°C and lows around 21°C. They also coincide with UK school holidays, so prices tend to climb and the best-located rooms go early. June and September are both around 25°C and make a sensible compromise, though September and October are the wettest months of the year, with over 80mm of rain each.
For transfers, Girona is the easy choice: 21 minutes to Lloret de Mar and 23 minutes to Blanes. Barcelona also has direct UK flights, but allow just over an hour to either town. If you plan to explore the coves or day-trip along the Costa Brava, you can compare car hire here as well as tours and tickets.
