Benalmadena Spain Weather: Month by Month Guide

Resort · Costa del Sol · Spain

Benalmadena Spain weather follows a clear Costa del Sol rhythm: long, dry summers that peak at 31°C in July and August, mild winters that rarely drop below 7°C at night, and a short wet spell that tends to arrive in autumn and early spring. The live forecast above shows the next few days. This page is about the pattern behind it, so you can pick the right fortnight before you book. Benalmádena sits about 10 minutes by road from Málaga airport, with Arroyo de la Miel and Mijas close by. That makes it an easy choice whether you want guaranteed-feeling heat in high summer or a gentler, quieter week in spring.

What the climate is really like

The Benalmadena weather table splits neatly into two halves. From April to September, the months the resort is best known for, daytime highs climb from 21°C to a peak of 31°C in July and August, and rain all but disappears: July averages 2mm over a single wet day, August 6mm. June is the one summer month with a little more rain on record, at 37mm over five days, but it is still warm at 27°C.

From October to March the coast stays mild rather than hot. January and February sit at 16°C by day and 7 to 8°C at night, December at 17°C. This is also when most of the year's rain falls, and October is the wettest month of all, with 117mm spread across around 10 days. If you have been checking BBC weather for Benalmadena or a 14 day weather outlook for a winter trip, expect a mix of bright days and the occasional proper downpour.

Month by month, from spring to winter

Spring is the sweet spot for many British travellers. Benalmadena weather in March is still changeable, with 19°C highs but 85mm of rain over about nine days. By April the picture flips: 21°C by day, 11°C at night and only three rainy days, which makes it one of the driest months of the year. May warms to 23°C with four wet days, comfortable for sightseeing at Sea Life Benalmádena or the caves of Cueva de la Zorrera and Cueva de los Botijos.

Summer runs hot and dry. June reaches 27°C, then July and August hold at 31°C with 21°C nights, the classic beach weeks on Playa de Carvajal or Playa de Malapesquera. September eases back to 26°C, though rain starts to return with six wet days.

Autumn and winter are the shoulder season. Benalmadena weather in October is still warm at 23°C, but it is the wettest month by a distance, so pack for showers. November drops to 20°C with five wet days, and December to 17°C with only 14mm of rain, a fairly settled month for a winter break. For the latest Benalmadena weather forecast before you fly, use the live panel above.

What to pack for each season

For June to September, light cotton and linen, sun cream, a hat and sunglasses cover the days; with Benalmadena temperature highs of 27 to 31°C and nights around 17 to 21°C, you will barely need a jacket. Bring something with sleeves for evenings in Arroyo de la Miel and for any day trip up to Mijas.

April and May call for layers: T-shirts for 21 to 23°C afternoons and a light jumper for 11 to 14°C evenings. From October to March, add a waterproof jacket and shoes that cope with wet pavements, particularly for October and March, the two rainiest months. Winter nights fall to 7°C, so a warm layer is sensible.

Whichever month you choose, you can compare package holidays from the UK on this page, with flights, hotel and transfers bundled together, alongside hotel prices, car hire and tours and tickets for rainy-day options such as the aquarium.
