Who this resort suits

Families get a lot from a week here. Sea Life Benalmádena is about two miles away and Selwo Marina, a marine park, roughly two and a half, both in neighbouring Arroyo de la Miel. With the airport so close, there is no long coach ride with tired children at either end of the holiday.

Couples and slower-paced travellers tend to enjoy the beach walks between Bajondillo and La Carihuela, the Jardín Botánico Molino de Inca a mile or so from the centre, and a visit to Bodegas Quitapenas winery. Golfers have the Parador de Málaga Golf Club around two and a half miles away, and anyone curious about the deep past can look up Bajondillo cave, where early human fossils were found, right in town.

Torremolinos or Arroyo de la Miel

Most holidays in Torremolinos are based in the town itself, a sizeable place of around 65,000 people with its beaches on the doorstep: Playa del Bajondillo in the centre and Playa de la Carihuela about half a mile along the shore. Playa de San Julián and Playa de Guadalmar lie further towards Málaga, three to four miles away.

Arroyo de la Miel, about two and a half miles away with a population of around 17,800, puts you closer to the family attractions: Sea Life Benalmádena, Selwo Marina and the Castillo de Bil Bil, with Playa de Malapesquera and the Benalmádena beaches nearby. It is eight minutes from the airport, so transfers stay short whichever base you choose.
