Staying Central or Near San Marcos
Almost every major sight sits within a quarter of a mile of the cathedral, so staying in the old centre puts you on foot for the cathedral, San Isidoro and the museums, and on the French Way itself. Expect more footfall here, with pilgrims passing through.
The area towards the convent of San Marcos and the contemporary art museum, roughly half a mile to three-quarters of a mile out, is a steadier choice if you prefer a short walk in. León is inland, so there is no beachfront to weigh up. The page shows live hotel prices so you can compare options across the city.
Hire a car
The easiest way to reach León and the villages around it is a hire car from Asturias (OVD), about 1 h 40 min away.
